During this brief lull, while we trepidatiously await the results of the Tony's (not to mention, yabba dabba doo, the FANY's), let's take a moment to check out some more sites associated with several of the awards.
Reader Paul Dixon wrote to mention that the site he developed and maintains for Albemarle of London (the ticket agency), the West End Theatre Guide, devotes a portion of their site to an archive of three West End theatrical awards: the Olivier Awards (for a listing of this year's winners at Suite 101.com Theatre, click here), the Evening Standard Awards (presented by the London Evening Standard newspaper), and the Critic's Circle Awards (formerly the Drama Theatre Awards). The archives date back to 1981 (or so, depending on the award). We don't know if they plan to add previous years, but there are already placeholders for 1999 and 2000.
There is a site devoted to Toronto's Dora Mavor Moore Awards (the Doras) maintained by the Toronto Theatre Alliance, but it contains basic information only. The site directs you to send email for listings of past winners.
The Manchester Evening News (of Manchester, England, England) may have at one time maintained a page devoted to their M.E.N. Awards, but although the link appears to be still active (i.e., no error message) it's just a blank page.
Audience: Arts on the Internet (apparently of Vancouver, Canada) maintains an area devoted to the Jessie Richardson Awards (the Jessies) proclaiming "the Jessies are to Vancouver what the Doras are to Toronto, the Tonies (sic.) to New York and the Oscars to Hollywood." All right! Although the awards are now 16 years old, their archives only go back to last year.
Australia's MO Awards (named after a comic character played by Roy Rene, "Mo" McCackie) are in the 24th year. These awards are for excellence in live performance, so there are categories outside of theatre (including items such as "Australian Showbusiness Ambassador of the Year," "Versatile Variety Performer of the Year," and "Arena Performer of the Year"). The site archives lists of the winners going back to their first awards for the 1975 season.
