bio: Joely Fisher was born in Burbank, California. The daughter of actress/singer Connie Stevens and singer Eddie Fisher, Joely spent her childhood traveling around the world with her mother and sister, Tricia Leigh Fisher. By the age of twelve, she was joining her mother onstage to sing.

Adolescence was traumatic, with many different schools until she and her sister entered Beverly Hills High School. She held after school jobs in an ice cream parlor and as a receptionist and moved on to college, spending a semester at the University of Paris and attending Emerson College. She left before graduation to start a serious acting career.

During the Gulf War, Joely performed with her mother and Bob Hope for overseas troops. Shortly afterward she had the honor of singing before President and Mrs. Bush at an appearance at the Kennedy Center.

Her acting career began with performances in summer stock, which led to television appearances and later feature films. But it wasn't until she was cast as Paige Clark for the newly revamped second season of Ellen that she gained national attention. In 1995 she spent her summer hiatus as Rizzo in the Broadway revival of Grease, following up successful performances in the same role by Rosie O'Donnell and Brooke Shields.

Joely, her mother, and her sister recorded a Christmas album, "Tradition...A Family At Christmas." It was released to brisk sales and has become a Christmastime favorite on radio stations around the country.

Joely's half-sister is actress Carrie Fisher, whose mother is Debbie Reynolds. Joely's full sister, Tricia Leigh, is also an actress--perhaps best known for her portrayal of Heidi Fleiss in a television movie about the Hollywood madam. On December 31, 1996, Joely married cinematographer Christopher Duddy. Present at the ceremony were her parents, who gave her away, as well as Ellen Degeneres, Laura Dern, John Tesh, and Friends' Matt LeBlanc and Matthew Perry.

In addition to her acting career, Fisher is also pursuing a recording career, with plans to produce an album in the near future. In what little spare time she has, Joely likes to decorate jewelry boxes and furniture with everything from photos to flowers. "It's really relaxing for me and, on occasion, people pay me large amounts of money for them," she says.
