Now, who was it that said that Glenn Carter would never appear in a Broadway theatre again? Not true! James and I saw him at THE Broadway Theatre tonight - at the opening of 'Blast!' Is that close enough?

I love 'Blast!' - I really do. I think it's super, and I think everyone, except the New York Times, of course, would enjoy it. But since most of you are not Bruce Weber, go out and get tickets now. It's by far the most energetic thing I've seen onstage in a while, and no, I am not in the least bit blinded by the attractive snare drummer when I say that. Really.

London was gray and rainy, the flu seems to be ravaging the West End (leads were out at 'Witches of Eastwick', 'The Beautiful Game' and 'The Secret Garden', among others). After my long-distance trek to be back in time for the 'Blast!' opening, I'm off to get some much needed sleep.

    • On April 17, 1961, about 1,500 CIA-trained Cuban exiles launched the disastrous Bay of Pigs invasion of Cuba in a failed attempt to overthrow the government of Fidel Castro. Possible topic for a musical? Has it been done? Today's birthdays include: Nikita Khrushchev, Don Kirshner, Isak Denisen, Thornton Wilder, Harry Reasoner, J.P. Morgan, If I were more awake, I might think of some clever RAGTIME quote. Is Catherine back from London yet? : )
