JOUET has made the leap from it's Sold Out run in Austin, TX at Zachary Scott Theatre Center to the prestigious Actor's Theatre of Louisville. The original stories printed on this show back in early April really sparked interest in the Austin production. It has received rave reviews and is playing once again to standing ovations each evening. As a part of their summer series which relies on single ticket sales, I'm sure filling the house for a new musical each performance is not easy.

The Actor's Theatre of Louisville production once again stared Meredith McCall directed by Zach Artistic Director Dave Steakley, and Author/Composer Allen Robertson leading Jouet's band.

Streep Meets Chekhov, Up in Central Park
It's been 20 long years since Meryl Streep last appeared in a play in New York. And from the evidence now available at the Delacorte Theater in Central Park, she has been depriving herself and her audiences of some serious pleasure.

TONYS BRING SUMMER SLUMP TO B'WAY by CLIVE BARNES
Broadway's 2001-02 season officially started on June 1. Yet so far only three shows - count 'em, three! - have opened.

Blind Email Received:
Patrick Wilson may turn down 'Oklahoma' for reasons no one could possibly believe. Word on the street is, he is in talks with Jordan Roth to replace Tom Hewitt as Frank-n-Furter after he leaves...
I wouldn't quite believe that... but there is so much talk about Patrick turning down OK that there has to be some truth to it, or his agents are leveraging it against the producer to get what he wants. Regardless, it does not make much sense for Patrick to go from Monty to Rocky. If Patrick were to be leaving for Madness or the new project that Jordan is working on, I could understand...

On another note, it is such a black couch day.

Went to Chess last night at the Helen Hayes in Nyack. I am pretty sure that one could not put together a better cast of principal performers. Very well cast. This show was a re-creation of the BC/EFA Benefit Concert of May 1998. The only variance of the concerts from then till now was a new take of "One Night In Bangkok" which sort of became this rapper's street gang. (It didn't work.) That was the only thing that did not really work for the evening. A good show that had signature songs for all the performers and in my opinion, Chess without a book is just fine with me. There is a photo of some of the performers if you click on the small one here.

And for those of you who don't like BroadwayStars.com, you missed your chance to take us out in one fell swoop. All but two of us were there last night. TOJ and Susan were AWOL.
