[ NJ ]  Nice career move for Kathie Lee: Gifford writes new musical's script and lyrics BY MICHAEL SOMMERS
Gifford, who created both script and lyrics for this pleasant, family-oriented musical, has done a solidly professional job.

[ ND ]  Sentimental Par-ee from Kathie Lee BY GORDON COX
Kathie Lee Gifford has taken up writing musicals, and the results probably won't surprise anyone. Her first effort, "Under the Bridge," is as blandly sentimental as you'd expect from an entertainer who has titled her forthcoming CD "Songs in the Key of True."

[ TB ]  Under the Bridge
Review by Matthew Murray

Is it damning Under the Bridge with faint praise to call it the best "homeless people living under a bridge" musical of the season? Maybe, but at least the presence of Brooklyn on Broadway gives the maudlin, predictable show at Off-Broadway's Zipper Theatre a chance to look and sound decent.

[ NYT ]  THEATER REVIEW | 'UNDER THE BRIDGE'
Parisian Hobo and Urchins From Kathie Lee, Lyricist By CHARLES ISHERWOOD

Even those forgiving of spoon-fed sentiment may find it hard to warm to "Under the Bridge," a new musical by Kathie Lee Gifford and David Pomeranz.

[ DN ]  Kathie Lee gifted, up to a point by Howard Kissel
The musical confirmed my fear that whimsy, which can work in a children's book or even a movie, is rough going in the theater.

[ B ]  Under the Bridge
Review by William Stevenson

Under the Bridge is a polished children's musical with engaging songs that are energetically performed. I just wonder if kids today are in the market for a treacly show about a bum and a homeless family.
